U.S. Army Sgt. Peter Andrew McKenna was killed in Afghanistan.

The funeral for an Army Green Beret from Rhode Island killed in Afghanistan has been scheduled for next week.

A funeral Mass for Master Sgt. Peter Andrew McKenna Jr. is scheduled to take place Monday at St. Mary of the Bay Church in Warren.

Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

A wake has been scheduled for Sunday at the same church from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The 35-year-old McKenna died Friday in Kabul during an attack on a NATO facility. The Pentagon said the 17-year Army veteran was struck by enemy small arms fire. His death came just a month after he was honored at a Fourth of July parade in his hometown of Bristol.
