Parents in Northborough, Massachusetts, are being warned about suspicious activity on an Instagram account which led some students to pornographic material.
Northborough's police chief tells necn his department is working with the social media app to find out who may be responsible.
Police say about 50 sixth graders at the town's middle school were sent follow requests on Instagram.
After they accepted the request, they started getting inappropriate, pornographic pictures in return.
A student who received the request quickly alerted her mother, and eventually local authorities became involved.
Northborough police have posted an advisory about the situation on the department's Facebook page.
Chief Mark Leahy says the incident should serve as a lesson for everyone, especially parents.
