Vermont game wardens are continuing to investigate the shooting of a bear hound with arrows fired from a cross-bow.

The Vermont Bear Hound Association says a $2,500 reward is being offered to help find whoever is responsible for shooting the Walker hound "Bear" three times after it had become separated from its owner while hunting Sept. 13 in Starksboro.

The dog was taken to a veterinarian where it is undergoing treatment for its injuries. Three crossbow arrows, or bolts, were removed from the dog.

The Bearhound Association is offering a $2,000 reward. An additional $500 was added from Operation Game Thief.

Game Warden Lt. Curtis Smiley says he's never heard of such a case, but wardens are actively investigating the case.
