Snow Slows Real Estate Market

Sharon Foster's home is on the market during a less-than-perfect time for real estate sales.

An open house is schedule for Sunday at her two-bedroom condo in Milton, Massachusetts, during one of the worst winters on record in Greater Boston.

The first order of business is digging out enough room for the "For Sale" sign. Snow, ice and the cold have slowed real estate sales in the last month or more to a trickle.

Traditionally, winter is not a busy time for real estate. But this season has been especially bad, with potential sellers reluctant to put snow-and-ice-covered properties on the market.

Relator Jane Hoffman says buyers have the advantage right now.

Foster is both as a seller and buyer. It has not been easy with the weather, having missed an opportunity for a new house of her own.
