Autopsy Reveals New Details in Toddler Remains Investigation

Authorities returned to the Massachusetts beach on Friday where the remains of a toddler were discovered the day before as investigators released new details from the autopsy.

Massachusetts State Police's dive team were seen going into the water off of Deer Island near Winthrop nearly 24 hours after the body of a female toddler was discovered by a woman walking her dog.

"If anyone knows of a child that might be missing, or they're concerned about a neighbor's child, someone within their family, please reach out to us," said Massachusetts State Police Lt. Col. Frank Matthews.

Investigators say they believe the toddler was about 4 years old when she died, and had brown eyes and brown hair that was about 14 inches long. She was about 3 1/2 feet tall and weighed just over 30 pounds, which is normal for her height.

The cause or manner of the toddler's death hasn't been determined, investigators said, adding that there needs to be additional testing.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities have asked the public to call them at 617-727-8817 or 617-539-5806 if they notice that a toddler is missing.
