Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust

The deputy detected the smell of marijuana smoke coming from the vehicle

A Massachusetts woman is facing drug charges in Maine after a police officer pulled her over for speeding and found hundreds of oxycodone pills in the vehicle.

Police say a Cumberland County sheriff's deputy pulled over 36-year-old Carla Barbosa, of Boston, on Route 26 in Gray at about 3:50 a.m. Tuesday for speeding.

The deputy detected the smell of marijuana smoke coming from the vehicle.

A drug detection dog was used to search the vehicle, and that's when the prescription painkillers as well as a small amount of marijuana were found.

Barbosa is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday on drug trafficking charges. It's not clear if she has a lawyer.
