Death of Spencer, Mass. Woman, 20, Ruled Suspicious

(NECN: Katelyn Tivnan) - The death of a 20-year-old Spencer, Mass. woman has now been ruled suspicious.

The woman's brother-in-law is behind held on $100,000 bail, accused of lying to investigators.

The body of Alyssa A. Haden of 14 Pleasant Street was discovered late Wednesday morning in her apartment.

A cause and manner of death has not yet been determined. The death of Haden is being investigated.

Steven D. West, 21, who lives at the same address, was arrested late Wednesday night and charged with misleading a police investigation.

He was arraigned Thursday in East Brookfield District Court and held on $100,000 bail.

West’s wife sat in court, sister of the deceased, was visibly upset with the bail set by the judge.

West’s attorney says he has no reason to believe his client was involved in Haden’s death at this time.

West will be back in court on November 12.
