Race Tightens Between Coakley, Baker

Coakley is clinging to a slim lead over Baker in the race for Mass. governor

Democratic candidate for Massachusetts governor, Martha Coakley, leads Republican Charlie Baker, according to a recent voter poll released by the Boston Globe. Coakley'd lead is a narrow one.

Jennifer Braceras of the Boston Herald and Boston City Councilor Tito Jackson joined Jim Braude on Broadside to discuss the poll.

25% of Democrats are not committed to Coakley. The troubling statistic could endanger Coakley's chances moving forward. Jackson feels it could sink her.

"The issue here is policy is not what sells people. It's actually personality."

Jackson says Coakley has an amazing success story of where she came from. He feels she needs to share that story in order to gain the interest of voters.

Braceras agreed with Jackson, saying personality will ultimately dictate the success of Coakley in the race.

"When I met Martha Coakley I found her very charming and engaging," said Braceras.

Coakley's personality has not translated over television to the voters, Braceras noted.

Braceras and Jackson went on to discuss the disapproval of President Obama's handling of the ISIS situation.
