Boston Semi-pro Athlete Dead, Believed to Be North Attleboro Body

(NECN: Ally Donnelly) – There are new developments about a death investigation in North Attleboro, Mass. It's a case that had police at the home of New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.

We believe the victim is a semi-professional football player out of Boston.

Early Wednesday morning, a white Audi SUV, we believe to be driven by Aaron Hernandez with a  woman in the passenger seat, left the home around 8. A couple of hours later, a woman in a silver SUV with Connecticut plates with Hernandez written in the back pulled in, got a small dog out of the car and went into the home. She hasn’t left since.

We did ask her for a comment but she had none and told us to get off the property.

There are many unanswered questions in this investigation.

State police were at the home Wednesday morning. They knocked on the door, but with Hernandez not home, they left a short time later.

What we do know is that state and local police filed through Hernandez’s home on Tuesday, one day after the body of a 27-year-old Boston man was found in a grassy area in a site owned by a construction company.

A North Attleboro police officer continues guarding that scene.

The body was found by a jogger over the weekend.

We believe that body was the body of a 27-year-old semi-professional football player from the Boston bandits, Odin Lloyd.

SportsIllustrated.com is reporting unnamed sources are reporting that Hernandez has been questioned in connection with that body found.
What we don’t know at this point is if Hernandez is considered a suspect or if he is cooperating with police.

Back to the body found, we believe it is 27-year-old Odin Lloyd, a member of the Boston Bandits. The coach of that team says he last saw Lloyd over the weekend and he was in good spirits. He does confirm he is dead and reports that several players say it is the body from the North Attleboro construction site.

A member of Lloyd's family confirmed Odin is dead but would not confirm any connection to the North Attleboro investigation or to Aaron Hernandez.

The question is how Hernandez figured into this in the first place. We are hearing from SI.com, they are reporting that there was a rental car, rented in Hernandez's name, that they were somehow tied to the investigation, but we don't know any more than that.
