Aussie dinosaur 'Australovenator' discovered

(NECN/APTN: Brisbane, Queensland) - Scientists have confirmed for the first time that Australia was once home to a dinosaur that was big, fast and terrifying, the Australovenator.

It was a 1,100 pound meat-eating predator with three slashing claws on each of its powerful forelimbs, and it stalked the Outback 98 million years ago, researchers said in a report published on Friday.

New research dealing with schizophrenia

(NECN) - In the science of schizophrenia, there is some exciting new research that could eventually help those who suffer from the disorder.

Dr. Duane Hill briefs us on the new hope found in the research.

Schizophrenia is a disease of the brain and nervous system that affects about one percent of adults. Hallucinations and extreme fear are among the symptoms.

The genome of about 2,500 people suffering schizophrenia was mapped in a study for the first time.

The plan gives six coastal regional planning authorities in Massachusetts the option to build up to 10 wind turbines each at least one-third of a mile from shore.

It also gives refusal rights to the community in whose waters a wind farm is proposed, but not neighboring communities.
