(NECN: Jackie Bruno, Boston) - According to the Boston Globe, James "Whitey Bulger" was hospitalized for an irregular heartbeat.
Some people say that his health issues could prevent him from ever having to go to trial.
The 83-year-old and his lawyers keep pushing off his court dates.
NECN Reporter Jackie Bruno asked people in South Boston if they'll be upset if he never makes it to trial.
"I think he should have been prosecuted as a much younger man. He's been skating for a long time…There's a lot of families here in South Boston that haven't gotten their justice," Samuel Stone said.
"I think the people want to hear his side of the story... It seems like they keep pushing it and he's in old age. And they want to see what happens," Sue Novick said.
Even though his health has been deteriorating, the Globe says Whitey wrote to a friend saying that prior to this health scare, he was doing 300 push-ups a day in his cell.

But the 83-year-old also wrote he'll have to stop doing that from now on.
