A man is facing multiple charges in connection to a shooting at a home in Woburn, Massachusetts, Saturday afternoon, authorities say.
He shot his friend in the neck while showing off his new gun at a home on Mount Pleasant Street about 2:30 p.m., according to the Woburn Police Department.
Officials said the suspect, 22-year-old Alec Augustino Braz of Woburn, had recently received his license to carry a firearm.
The victim, who has not been named, is 19 years old and is expected to survive, authorities said. The Middlesex District Attorney's Office initially said the victim was 34.
A friend took the victim to a local hospital after 3 p.m. Saturday, police said. Investigators recovered a .40-caliber Smith and Wesson pistol and interviewed everyone involved before arresting Braz.
His license to carry was immediately suspended and he is now facing charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, shooting a gun close to a building and improperly storing a gun.
Braz is expected to be arraigned in Woburn District Court on Monday. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney who could speak to the charges.
