(NECN) - Police in Lowell, Mass., got a call Saturday night about an alligator in the Merrimack Canal, near Dutton and Broadway streets.
The Lowell Sun provided the above picture.
It's not clear what the foot-and-a-half long gator was doing in the canal.
An animal control officer tells the Sun he will take the alligator to an exotic-animals expert in Beverly, Mass., who works with the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
