HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Attorney General Richard Blumenthal says
he's investigating Toyota's response to vehicle accelerator
problems after three Camry crashes in Connecticut this week.
Blumenthal said Friday he's asked the car company if it plans to
send experts to examine the Connecticut cars to determine if faulty
accelerators played a role. He also asked for Toyota's procedures
for investigating such crashes.
On Tuesday in New Britain, a 76-year-old woman's Camry struck
the front steps of a church.
On Thursday, a 77-year-old man died when his Camry crashed on
Route 8 in Torrington, and another Camry rolled over in Middletown.
The causes remain under investigation.
More than 8 million Toyotas have been recalled over brake and
acceleration problems. The accelerator problems have been linked to
52 deaths nationwide.
