Gribble Says He Might Kill Again If Ever Released From Prison

(NECN: Lauren Collins, Nashua, N.H.) - "It is possible if I ever got out that I could kill again," admitted Christopher Gribble in the final moments of his testimony at his insanity trial.

Gribble claims he felt nothing as he killed Kimberly Cates and stabbed her daughter Jamie. But in a three hour long cross examination Wednesday, the prosecution used Gribble's confession to police and signed court documents to try and convince the jury that he was a conscious participant in the fatal attack.

"Did you knowingly cause Kim Cates' death?" asked prosecutor Jeff Strelzin.

"Yes," said Gribble looking at the indictment he signed in December. "I stood there and i stabbed her and i knowingly killed her."

"You did not instinctively kill her," clarified Strelzin. "That's not what you came in and agreed you did, right?"

"I did not say in the indictments, no I did not say that i instinctively did it," acknowledged Gribble.

Later in the afternoon, Quinn Glover told the court the Cates house was a nightmarish scene that haunts him every night. Glover watched the attack and reached a plea deal with the state. He took the stand in stark contrast to the defendant and said Gribble never appeared upset by the murder scene.

This trial centers on whether Christopher Gribble suffers from a mental disease or defect that caused him to commit the crime. Glover was on several anti-psychotic and anti-anxiety drugs the night of the murder, "but you weren't insane when you committed your crimes," asked prosecutor Peter Hinckley.
"No, sir," said Glover.

"You chose to commit your crimes," stated Hinckley.

Glover politely responded, "Yes."

Gribble says he's pursuing an insanity defense as a way to get psychiatric help and denies trying to win a lighter prison sentence.

"It's not a choice between going to prison or not at this point," Gribble remarked.

Strelzin, though, countered "Sure it is. It's always been your choice. You could choose to drop your insanity defense."

Gribble plainly stated back, "Just winning an insanity defense doesn't get me out of prison. You know that very well Mr. Strelzin."
