(NECN: Kathryn Sotnik) - The judge in the Aaron Hernandez case has denied the prosecution's request to change a gag order.
In the court records, released Tuesday, Judge Susan Garsh called the prosecution's request "not warranted," and says prosecutors have not made a credible showing to justify a stay of the gag order.
NECN legal analyst Randy Chapman says the prosecution is concerned about the scope of the gag order, including whether members of the prosecution team should be allowed to communicate certain information to the public which is routinely permitted in other cases.
Defense attorneys, who asked for the gag order, accused the state of allowing leaks and out of court statements.
The prosecution has taken their case to the Supreme Judicial Court. That's where prosecutors have filed an appeal.
Hernandez has plead not guilty to the murder of Odin Lloyd.
He's currently behind bars awaiting trial.
