Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, RI on Lockdown

11:40 A.M. UPDATE (2/21): Woonsocket police have identified a man they say prompted a lockdown at Landmark Medical Center by bringing a gun to a hospital entrance and threatening to shoot himself.

Police said Friday 55-year-old Jose Giles of Burrillville fired a round from a .22-caliber rifle into the air when police approached him. No one was hurt, and Giles was taken into custody after about two hours.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) - Police say Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket is on lockdown after someone walked to the facility with a gun.

Police Private Chris Laprade tells The Associated Press that several officers have been sent to the scene Thursday night.

He says ambulances were being diverted to other hospitals.

Laprade says additional information was not immediately available to police dispatchers.
