(TV Diner) - Westside Steak and BBQ, located on the west side of Worcester is a bustling neighborhood hotspot for college kids, young couples, and families looking for the best barbecue in Worcester.
In addition to classic BBQ, they also serve tacos, burritos, and salads. There's a large selection of sodas and juices, but make sure to head next door to the liquor store beforehand as it's BYOB.
The restaurant is clean and minimalist: sturdy wooden tables and chairs make for easy clean up and the tables have a nice touch of a simple flower and the much needed roll of paper towels.
The mural of suburban farmland and collection of little pigs give the restaurant a quaint homey feel. There's also a TV if you need to get your sports fix while enjoying your meal. If the weather's nice, eat outside shaded by sun umbrellas or under the light of twinkling snowflake lights on the patio.
We started with six of the crispy, succulent large chicken wings, which were steaming hot as they came to the table. The cajun was a great combination of spices, the sweet chili sauce was flavorful, with a hint of spice, and the hot buffalo style wings fiery to the point of perfection! The potato skins were another hit with us-- crusty skins smothered with cheese and bacon.
For dinner we shared a BBQ combo, complete with spare ribs, BBQ chicken and pulled pork, all perfectly glazed with sweet, slightly tangy BBQ sauce. The spare ribs fell off the bone with ease and melted in our mouths. Even the breast of the BBQ chicken was moist, with a hint of smokiness that did not overpower the chicken. The creamy baked beans, laced with strings of pulled pork, were a perfect combination of savory and sweet. These were amazing stuffed inside the steaming baked potato.
If you like crunch go for the onion rings and sweet potato fries: tender insides with crackly outsides. We loved the whole fennel seeds in the refreshing and crisp coleslaw. The lightly seasoned red beans and rice with mild green chiles was another great palate cleanser.

For dessert, we had a root beer float with vanilla ice cream: way better than at your average A&W, thanks to the generous serving of ice cream. The oreo frappe was equally delicious- a milk shake so thick we could barely get it through the straw!
We couldn't have been happier with the service: our order was taken quickly, and the waiter returned almost instantly with frosted glasses for our beer. He proceeded to bring us mountains of food--certainly more than we could have imagined, especially for the price. Appetizers 1.99-17.99, entrees 2.50-39.99, and desserts 1.87-6.99. Westside BBQ receives the gold plate for fantastic finger-licking bbq.
