Thomas Mortimer Caught, Charged With Killing His Family

(NECN: Ally Donnelly, Woburn, Mass.) - Authorities have captured Thomas Mortimer in Bernardston, Massachusetts.

Mortimer, 43, is accused of killing his wife, two children and mother-in-law in their Winchester home. He has been charged with four counts of murder.

On Wednesday, Mortimer's 41-year-old wife, Laura; her 64-year-old mother Ellen Stone, his 4-year-old son Thomas and 2-year-old daughter Charlotte were found dead in their residence. All victims were killed by a combination of blunt force and sharp objects.

Authorities say a fight between Mortimer and his wife preceded the murders. Mortimer left a note inside the home, saying he murdered his family.

Authorities say there are signs in the house that Mortimer may have tried to commit suicide.

Prior to his arrest, Mortimer was last seen Monday around 6:00 p.m. at his job at M&R Consultants Corp., a Burlington technology consulting firm -- according to the company's president.
