After periods of rain work through on Friday, a warm-up returns for the weekend.
Temperatures for much of Southern New England will approach or exceed 70 degrees on Saturday, as a warm front pulls through the area. Of the major reporting sites in Southern New England, only Hartford has already hit 70 this season. In Boston, we haven’t seen a 70 degree reading since October of last year—some 169 days! According to climate, the first 70 typically occurs at Logan on April 9. The average first 70 in Providence happens on April 8, with an average first 70 on April 12 in Worcester, so we’re running a little behind schedule.
The front won’t quite make it all the way into Northern New England though, so while highs reach the 50s and 60s for much of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, the northern tip of Maine is likely to stay stuck in the 40s on Saturday. And right along that front, we’ll find a fair amount of clouds. Along with mostly cloudy skies, a few rain showers will move through parts of Northern New England. A few wet flakes may even fall in the chilliest spots on Maine. A spot shower can’t totally be ruled out in Southern New England, but overall it looks driest and brightest the farther south you head.
Sunday looks cooler and drier for all of New England. Highs will be in the 50s and 60s for most as high pressure settles back in.
After that, all attention turns to Monday. It looks cool and cloudy for the Marathon at this point, with rain arriving Monday afternoon and night.
