Police departments across New England expressed their sorrow Saturday after two NYPD officers were fatally shot in Brooklyn.
The gunman, according to a police spokesman, shot the officers in their car, ran into a subway station and committed suicide.

The killings follow outrage about a grand jury's decision not to indict an NYPD officer in the chokehold death of Eric Garner. A law enforcement source told the Associated Press that the gunman posted a threatening message about police on social media.
Also according to the source, the suspect is believed to have shot and injured his girlfriend in Baltimore before arriving in New York.
