Burt Shavitz From Burt's Bees Laid to Rest in Bangor, Maine

The final resting place of the beekeeper who became the face of Burt's Bees is in Bangor, Maine.

Burt Shavitz was buried a week ago after he died at age 80 from respiratory complications.

Roxanne Quimby, with whom Shavitz created the natural cosmetics, said Shavitz' rabbi was in New York City and had to rush back to Maine for the service on July 7. She said she and her children were able to attend the funeral, as well.

Together, Quimby and Shavitz created Burt's Bees, and Shavitz's face and unruly beard appeared on labels for some of the products.

Shavitz and Quimby parted ways before the company was sold to Clorox. He lived on a 37-acre parcel in Parkman, Maine.
