Maine's Republican Gov. Paul LePage has endorsed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump for president.

The Kennebec Journal reports LePage endorsed Trump on Wednesday, saying Trump was the "lesser of two evils" and that despite his ups and downs, he's still a businessman.

LePage says Trump was his third choice for president behind New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

LePage says he's concerned that Democrat Hillary Clinton was unwilling to bring home U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans, who died in the attack on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya.

The Clinton campaign declined to respond to the remarks and pointed to a fact-check by Politifact that says the military's chain of command was responsible for sending troops to Libya.
