A Maine high school will be closed for a day because a student threatened a shooting.
Lewiston High School will be closed Wednesday after school officials received a threat on social media Tuesday evening. Superintendent Bill Webster says the student who made the threat is in custody, and the threat was believed to be false.
The Sun Journal reports classes are being canceled as a precaution. Webster says students need to understand how seriously schools take threats such as this, noting the closure is costing thousands of dollars to Lewiston.
