Police in Augusta, Maine, are asking for the public's help to identify the suspects behind a vandalism spree that spread across the city Tuesday night.
The majority of the damage was at the Riverside Cemetery. Dozens of gravestones were damaged. Some were toppled, others were broken in half.
Police also believe the same suspect or suspects damaged cars, threw trash around a skate park and started a fire at an abandoned shed.
Currently, there are no suspects.
Jim Goulet, the director of cemeteries in Augusta, says the damage is heartbreaking.
"This is a pretty sick feeling over here when you come in and your look and you have 77 monuments taken down," Goulet said.
Goulet believes the damage to the cemetery is over $10,000. He is hoping the city will be able to find the funds to make repairs.
