Police in Maine say a man sought for months in connection with allegedly bilking thousands of dollars in items and services he advertised online is in custody.
Police say 23-year-old Ervin Morrison III of Lisbon, Maine, was charged Wednesday with theft by deception, theft by unauthorized taking and numerous motor vehicle violations.
Authorities say they've received numerous complaints about services and products sold on Craigslist that were never received. Police anticipate the losses in Maine could total $250,000 and that amount may double once out-of-state complaints are tallied.
Investigators say the majority of the Morrison's online schemes involved sales of firewood, wood pellets, logging, home repair, earthwork, real estate, and investments.
Morrison is being held at the Kennebec County Jail. It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
