Sexual Assault Survivor From Maine Stands With Lady Gaga

Robby Woodsum stood alongside the singer during Sunday's Oscars performance

A Maine man was among dozens of campus sexual assault survivors who took the stage at the Oscars as Lady Gaga performed her Oscar-nominated song.

Robbie Woodsum of Portland stood alongside the pop star Sunday night at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood as she sung "Til It Happens to You."

Lady Gaga co-wrote the song for the documentary film "The Hunting Ground," about the pervasiveness of sexual assaults on college campuses.

The Portland Press Herald reports that Woodsum talks in the movie about how people are less accustomed to hearing of men as assault victims.

The 26-year-old Woodsum says he was date-raped while a student at George Mason University in Virginia. He says he hopes other victims will share their own stories after seeing what he and other survivors did.
