Police in New Bedford, Massachusetts, confirm that the victim of a Thursday evening stabbing has died.
Twenty-two-year-old Alex Silva of New Bedford was taken to St. Luke's Hospital and airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital, where he died Saturday morning.
Twenty-five-year-old Marco Shane Ramos of New Bedford was arrested Friday and charged with armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious injury.
The assault and battery charge was subsequently upgraded to murder.
Ramos is being held without bail and is due to appear Monday afternoon in New Bedford District Court.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the homicide.
An autopsy on Silva will be performed by the Rhode Island Medical Examiner's Office.
