One person is dead after a crash on Interstate 90 in Warren, Massachusetts.
The crash was first reported around 11 a.m. near the eastbound 69 mile marker. The accident occurred in the breakdown lane.
According to Massachusetts State Police, a 38-year-old man from Agawam was attending to his vehicle in the breakdown lane when he was struck by a tractor trailer and killed. The man's identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.
Police said preliminary investigation shows that the male entered the right travel lane and was struck by the tractor trailer, which was traveling eastbound. The driver of the tractor trailer, a 50-year-old man from Syracuse, New York, remained at the accident scene.
The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
The right travel lane and breakdown lane were closed for several hours due to the ongoing investigation, which caused significant delays. All lanes reopened shortly after 3 p.m.
