2 Dead, 1 Injured in Fatal Car Crash in Yarmouth, Mass.

The cause of the crash is under investigation

Two people are dead and one is injured after a fatal car accident involving two vehicles that occurred at Saturday evening in Yarmouth, Massachusetts.

Yarmouth Police report that at approximately 10:40 p.m. they responded to the crash on Buck Island Road between Janor Way and the entrance to the Halycon Condominium complex.

“I could see it was bad,” said DeeDee Korbel, who heard the crash outside her home.

Caroline Liberty, 22, of West Yarmouth was killed according to Yarmouth Police.

She was a budding photographer according to those who know her.

In the other car, passenger Thomas Ardan, 56, was killed. His wife Mary, 60, who was driving, was left with critical injuries.

The couple owns the Windrift Motel in Yarmouth, according to the motel clerk.

Neighbors say people often exceed the speed limit on Buck Island Road, and there’s also a bend in the road that can make driving tricky.

It was also foggy and rainy in the area Saturday night.

The road was closed for about 4 hours according to Yarmouth Police, as investigators and an accident reconstruction team tried to figure out what happened.

The two vehicles involved were badly damaged and both appeared to be totaled.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police are asking for any witnesses who saw the crash or have knowledge of events leading up to the crash to contact investigators.
