A toddler got away from a day care center and was found wandering in the middle of a street Wednesday in Northborough, Massachusetts.
Police confirm two drivers spotted a 22-month-old boy walking on the double yellow line of Church Street.
The child had gotten away from Lissa's Daycare owner, Melissa Tatten, who told police she had brought six other children out for a walk and realized she was one child short.
Her assistant had called out sick and Tatten is licensed to care for six children by herself.
She is not currently facing charges, but the state has told the day care to cease operating.
"As a parent it is hard to fathom what occurred," the boy's family said in a statement. "We are extremely thankful to the police and Good Samaritans of Northborough who saved our son's life."
