The champions of the men and women divisions of the 2015 Boston Marathon will be returning to defend their titles in the 2016 race.
According to John Hancock Financial, which sponsors the Boston Marathon, Lelisa Desisa and Caroline Rotich will be running in the race on April 18.
Desisa, of Ethoipia, finished with an unofficial time of 2 hours, 9 minutes, 17 seconds. Desisa previously won the race in 2013 and donated his medal to the city of Boston following the Boston Marathon bombings that same year.
Rotich, of Kenya, finished with an unofficial time of 2 hours, 24 minutes, 55 seconds.
The 2016 race marks the 31st year of sponsorship by John Hancock Financial.
