Boston City Councilor Looking to Lower Speed Limit

City Councilor Frank Baker proposed the speed limit reduction

Boston City Councilor Frank Baker is looking to lower the speed limit in Boston from 30 miles per hour to 20 miles per hour according to the Boston Globe.

The Globe reported that Baker proposed the speed reduction on Wednesday after explaining that the default speed limit in "thickly settled areas" is 30 miles per hour.

The majority of Boston is considered a "thickly settled area."

Mayor Walsh did not take a position on the issue, according to the Globe.
