Boston to Host High-Speed IndyCar Race

Mayor Marty Walsh's office says the 2.2-mile-long race is approved, pending the completion of traffic and safety permits by organizers

The IndyCar race is officially coming to Boston.

After lengthy negotiations Grand Prix Boston has finally reached an agreement with the city, MassDOT, the MBTA and MassPort.

Mayor Marty Walsh's office says the 2.2-mile-long race is approved, pending the completion of traffic and safety permits by organizers.

The approval was granted on conditions including The Grand Prix of Boston assuming all costs associated with the race with no burden to taxpayers.

The event is scheduled to kick Labor Day weekend in the Seaport district.
