Clothing Store a Front For Marijuana Distribution Location

Three people from Springfield, Mass., arrested and face charges

Three people have been arrested after detectives learned that a clothing store in Springfield, Massachusetts, was a front for a marijuana distribution location. Authorities watched dozens of people enter and exit the store with nothing in their hands.

The "Fresh & So Clean" store at 94 Wilbraham Rd. had about 15 articles of clothing, with little or no variety in sizes.

Officers made an undercover drug purchase, and were granted a search warrant. A raid was conducted on Friday, and officers confiscated a large bag of marijuana, individually packaged bags of marijuana, scales, packaging material, and $2,564 in cash.

Officers also raided the home of the store's owner, Michael Marshall, 43, of Middlesex St. They found another pound of pot, scales, packaging material, drug ledgers, ammo and a gun that he was seen hiding before attempting to flee.

Marshall faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm, possession of ammo, and a default warrant for operating after suspension.

Lamont Gainey, 46, and Thedrick Owens, 45, face possesion of marijuana with intent to distribute charges.
