Cops: Teen Shoplifting Suspect Rescued After Injury

The 13-year-old girl, who wasn't identified, fell from an embankment Sunday onto a railroad bed near Interstate 91

A teen shoplifting suspect was rescued by a team of police, firefighters and emergency responders after she was injured while attempting to flee a western Massachusetts CVS.

The Republican of Springfield reports the 13-year-old girl, who wasn't identified, fell from an embankment Sunday onto a railroad bed near Interstate 91 in Holyoke.

Police Lt. David Fournier says the victim and a 14-year-old girl fled on foot after stealing from the store around 8 p.m.

The older girl ran back to alert officers of her friend's injury.

With no way to reach the teen by vehicle, Fournier says the rescue team hiked on foot and carried her out on a stretcher shortly before 10 p.m.

Her condition wasn't immediately known.

Fournier says charges will be looked at later on.
