IndyCar Promoters Take Step Toward Boston Race

Boston appears to be moving a step closer to hosting an IndyCar race in the Seaport District.

The Boston Globe reports that promoters of the race expect on Friday to sign a letter of intent with four state agencies - Massachusetts Port Authority, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, Massachusetts Department of Transportation and Massachusetts Convention Center Authority.

The chief financial officer for Grand Prix of Boston, John Casey, says the letter will demonstrate there are no insurmountable obstacles to holding the race and reassure potential sponsors that it will indeed be held during Labor Day weekend next year.

Grand Prix of Boston has proposed holding the race on a 2.2 mile course around the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. The organizers say they will pay to assemble the temporary course.
