Judge Dismisses $2M School Bullying Suit

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit in Massachusetts brought by a former Concord-Carlisle High School student who said school administrators did nothing after she complained of relentless bullying.

The Boston Globe reports that the judge said although the administration's response to Isabella Hankey's complaints was "ineffective and unreasonable," the suit failed to meet the requirements of the law that "preclude liability in this case."

Hankey alleged in her $2 million suit filed in August 2013 that the abuse included death threats and crude slurs carved into her car. Hankey alleges the stress caused her to suffer a pulmonary embolism and finish her senior year elsewhere.

The suit named the school district, both towns and three school administrators as defendants. Defense lawyer had previously denied the claims in the suit.
