Local Brick-and-Mortar Stores Join in on Cyber Monday Deals

Cyber Monday could end up being the largest online shopping day in American history. Adobe Analytics is predicting more than $6 billion in sales in 24 hours. 

The day of clicking for deals isn’t just for the mega retailers like Amazon and Walmart. Local small businesses are doing their best to cash in. 

Johnson String Instrument in Newton Upper Falls, Massachusetts, has strung together four days of deals where buyers can take 15 percent off their bill. 

"We decided to choose Black Friday through Cyber Monday and do a whole weekend long promotion,” said Maureen Wall, marking manager for Johnson String Instrument. 

Wall said the 15 percent deduction can be added to their already existing holiday sale. 

The downside, according to Wall, is the slash in prices ends up lowering their profit significantly.

"We are hopefully developing great relationships with clients that we can further in years to come," said Wall. 

Amid the flood of emails bombarding inboxes, other small businesses are fighting for their deals to be seen. 

Coast To Coast Paddle in Beverly sent an email to their shoppers offering 25 percent off gift certificates. 

InMotion Cycling Studio in Westford emailed an alert for 20 percent off apparel and class passes. 

While small business owners look to cut their own slice of the Cyber Monday pie that’s mostly owned by Amazon, some are teaming up with them. 

Boston-based Tea Forte is selling their products on Amazon’s website and app. 

“It's a really special day for us,” said Tea Forte Owner Jurgen Nebelung. 

He said they hope to do a month’s worth of sales in one day.
