A Cape Cod man facing drunken driving charges for allegedly striking and killing a veteran Westfield, Massachusetts, firefighter crossing a Yarmouth street is expected to appear in court.

Paul Dennehy is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Barnstable District Court on charges of motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence, and operating under the influence causing serious injury.

Investigators say Dennehy was driving a van that struck 62-year-old Kevin Regan and Lynda Cavanaugh just before midnight Saturday as they crossed Route 28 after dinner at a Yarmouth restaurant.

Regan died. Cavanaugh was flown to a Boston hospital.

Regan was a 43-year veteran of the Westfield department, having joined at age 19. His sister is Westfield's fire chief. He was remembered by colleagues as a dedicated firefighter and a loyal friend.
