Suspect Arrested in Beating That Left Man Critically Hurt in Barnstable, Mass.

Police have made an arrest after a Cape Cod man was beaten with a blunt object and left on a sidewalk early Wednesday morning.

According to police in Barnstable, Massachusetts, officers responded to the area of 210 Main St. around 2:30 Wednesday morning after a woman drove by and called police.

The man, a 20-year-old South Dennis resident who was bleeding from the head, was transported to a Boston hospital by MedFlight. His skull was fractured and he is in critical but stable condition.

The victim's identity has not been released.

Wednesday afternoon, police announced that 46-year-old Richard Weeks of Barnstable had been arrested in connection to the attack. He faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous wepon and assault with intent to murder.

Weeks is due to be arraigned Thursday at Barnstable District Court. He is being held on $25,000 bail. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
