A North Reading, Massachusetts, man has an extra reason to celebrate this holiday season after he was reunited with his lost dog.
The owner's dog, Kona, was reported missing last Friday. Kona ran off while out on a walk.
Kona's owner immediately notified local animal control officers.
Sadly, during the time Kona was missing, there was also a report that an animal matching her description was hit by a car.
Kona's owner, searching for what he thought was his injured dog, found other animal remains in the woods, and even buried those remains, thinking it was Kona.
Suddenly, after giving up all hope, Kona appeared at the door of a police officer in the town.
The officer secured the dog and reported the happening to his superiors. Kona was immediately identified as the missing dog.
