Boston Police gave out nearly 500 citations at South Boston's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade for public drinking. However, arrests at the event dropped by half.
According to the Boston Globe, the public drinking citations were up dramatically this year, tallying 498 civil violations to last year's 278 citations.
Police also reported five violations issued to licensed establishments.
The five people arrested face charges including assault and battery on a police officer and disorderly conduct.
