Suspected Drug Dealer Shot by Officer Dies From Injuries

The suspected dealer, a 23-year-old Boston man, was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital where he underwent surgery, but ultimately died from his injuries

A suspected drug dealer shot by an undercover police officer in Lynn, Massachusetts, on Monday, has died from his injuries.

According to investigators, two undercover police officers witnessed a drug deal on Jefferson Street around 12 p.m. One of the officers arrested the alleged buyers, but the alleged dealer, 23-year-old Rafael Suazo of Boston, began driving towards the officer.

The District Attorney says the officer fired his weapon after Suazo tried to run him over. He fired one bullet through the windshield, hitting Suazo in the head.

Suazo was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital where he underwent surgery, but ultimately died from his injuries.

The car continued to move forward, striking the officer and a female motorist in a passing SUV.

The police officer was taken by ambulance to Salem Hospital, where he was treated and released.

The officer who fired his weapon is an 18-year veteran of the force. The police chief says he has an exemplary record, but the DA will fully investigate.

The alleged buyers Sharona Landy, 32, and Vinchenzo, 33, both of Peabody, are alleged to have purchased Heroin from Suazo. They are expected to be arraigned in Lynn District Court Tuesday.

The incident remains under investigation.
