For the first time, 18-year-old Kailyn Bonia of Saugus, Massachusetts, faced a judge in a disturbing rape case.
Bonia and her boyfriend, 19-year-old Rashad Deihim, also of Saugus, appeared in Salem superior court Friday after being indicted for their suspected roles in the alleged sexual attack of a 16-year-old last month.
In the courtroom, the two answered to a series of charges.
The alleged sexual assault took place Sept. 3 in a wooded area behind a Saugus elementary school. Police became aware of the situation after video of it was posted to Snapchat.
Thursday, 17-year-old Timothy Cyckowski, who is being indicted as a youthful offender in the attack, also appeared before a judge. Prosecutors say Cyckowski filmed the assault and shared it with a friend of the victim on the social media platform.
That friend told her father, who called police. The victim was later found in the woods.
