Vermont: 500 Blank Vehicle Inspection Stickers Stolen

The Vermont Agency of Transportation says about 500 vehicle inspection stickers have been stolen in a series of burglaries at state inspection stations over the last three months.

The Vermont Agency of Transportation says about 500 vehicle inspection stickers have been stolen in a series of burglaries at state inspection stations over the last three months.

The agency says that since the end of December the stickers and cash were stolen in 12 burglaries in communities from Georgia to Bethel.

Department of Motor Vehicles investigators say the inspection stickers are commonly being diverted and sold illegally for up to $120. The stolen inspection stickers are typically used on vehicles that are unable to pass a Vermont safety inspection.

The DMV Law Enforcement Division has been maintaining a list of the serial numbers of the stolen inspection stickers reported stolen.
