A child has died from his injuries in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday night in Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood.
In a press conference, the Boston Police Department said officers responded to Wood Avenue around 9:30 p.m. to find a boy, believed to be 4 years old, hit by a vehicle.
He was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Authorities say the driver did not stop after hitting the boy. No description of the vehicle was immediately available.
Anyone who saw anything is asked to call the Boston Police Department's homicide unit at 617-343-4470. Anonymous tips can also be left by calling 1-800-494-TIPS.
An off-duty firefighter provided first aid to the child after the crash, police said.

"We're here today with very heavy hearts," Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said. "A family that has suffered a terrible loss, with a boy so young, and our hearts and our prayers are with them, with this community."
"I just want to send our condolences to the family, and all of the community members and people who loved this little boy," Mayor Michelle Wu said. "It's absolutely devastating to think about what transpired in just a split second, and I'm also very grateful that a member of our Boston Fire Department immediately stopped, off-duty, and did what was possible to try to render first aid until EMS and other first responders arrived."
