A suspect is in custody after a brief police chase culminated in a head-on collision and shots fired in Burlington, Massachusetts, Monday evening.
Police say the male suspect, Robert Haught 42, of College Park, Maryland, had a stack of credit cards and high end electronics in the car. The suspect sped at 80 mph in the chase, according to police.
Burlington Police say an officer on a routine patrol at the Burlington Mall noticed a white mini van idling in a handicapped space with no one inside. Haught soon jumped inside and took off, police said, leading them on a mile-long chase down Mall Road and onto Cambridge Street, where Haught allegedly rammed into a police cruiser and continued.
Another cruiser was blocking traffic, and when Haught would not stop, an officer on foot fired two shots, according to police. Haught then collided with two other cars.
One woman in a Toyota Prius was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and her two children in the car were not hurt, police said.
Police say Haught tried to flee on foot, but was captured.
"We believe that this is connected to a credit card fraud situation," Burlington Police Chief Michael Kent said. "Within plain view of the vehicle were a large amount of credit cards along with quite a bit of high end merchandise."

Haught will be arraigned in Woburn Tuesday morning.
