A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for Somerset County in west central Maine.
The warning is in effect through 5:45 p.m. Thursday.
Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter-sized hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. The storm was located over Bingham, Maine, moving east at 25 mph.

As the front pushes in from west to east today, it will trigger more strong to severe thunderstorms.
The main concern with any of the cells that turns severe is the possibility of damaging winds, torrential rainfall and frequent lightning.
The areas with the highest instability and best chance of strong storms area southern Vermont to the Berkshires to the Worcester Hills, northern Connecticut and most of New Hampshire.

Storms will impact coastal areas between 4 and 9 p.m., but an isolated storm could get ahead of the main line. These storms are expected to weaken somewhat as they reach the coastal plain. There is a low risk of an isolated tornado.
Activity diminishes tonight with loss of daytime heating. The front will be offshore by Friday morning, leading to a mostly sunny, less humid day. Southwest winds will gust to 20 mph at times during the afternoon. Highs in the 80s for most.
