Driver injured after van crashes into house in Wakefield

The home was unoccupied at the time

Police responded to a van that crashed into a house in Wakefield, Massachusetts, on Thursday morning.

The crash was reported around 7:30 a.m. on Kathleen Drive.

Upon arrival, emergency crews found a 2020 Chevrolet work van that had struck the garage entrance on the right side of the home.

The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was trapped inside. Fire officials used hydraulic tools to remove the driver from the van. The driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

The home was unoccupied at the time of the crash. The building did sustain serious damage, and the building inspector responded to the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Wakefield police.
